  1. Yamuna River - 

  • The Delhi government has set a target to clean the Yamuna river completely by 2025.

  • Under this, the capacity of sewage treatment plant will be increased.

  • For this, 6-point programs were announced.

 

About Yamuna River-

  • Originates from Garhwal Uttarakhand’s Bandarpunch hill (Yamunotri Glacier) and joins the Ganges at Prayagraj.

  • It is a tributary of the Ganges


 

  • Tributaries of Yamuna - Tons, Betwa, Chambal, Ken, and Sindh River are the major tributaries of Yamuna River. Tons River is the largest tributary of Yamuna River.

  • A water-taxi project is proposed in the 16 km stretch of Yamuna River (National Waterway-110) from Wazirabad to Fatehpur Jat in Delhi.

 

  1. A uniform Goods and Services Tax of 12% has been notified on clothing, apparel and footwear. This will come into effect from January 2022.

 

  1. Smart Policing Index 2021 -

    • It is issued by the Indian Police Foundation (IPF).

    • Andhra Pradesh Police, Telangana Police, and Assam Police secured first, second and third positions in this index respectively.

    • Uttar Pradesh is at the 28th position and Bihar is at the last position with 5.74 points.

 

  • The idea of ​​smart policing was presented by Prime Minister Narendra Modi at the conference of DGPs of State and Central Police Organizations held in Guwahati in the year 2014.

  • Smart' (SMART) - Sensitive and Strict, Modern with Mobility, Alert and Accountable, Reliable and Responsive, Trend and Techno-savvy.

  • Experts from reputed institutions including IIT-Kanpur and Tata Institute of Social Sciences (TISS) were involved in this survey.

 

      4.   Bharat Gaurav Train - Bharat Gaurav trains will be operated to promote tourism.

  • This is a scheme under which a state or a person can hire trains.

  • Bharat Gaurav trains will be operated by private sector and IRCTC.

  • The fare will be decided by the tour operator.

  • These trains will be based on a theme showcasing the culture and heritage of India.

 

     5.     Hydrological SOS system is proposed to be developed in Ganga- Brahmaputra- Meghna basins. The GBM river basin systems are spread over India, Tibet, Nepal, Bhutan, and Bangladesh. The GBM basin is largely exposed to floods and droughts. Hydrological SOS system is a round-the-year system to share data on reservoirs, rivers and dam waters, which will help mitigate water hazards like floods, droughts, mudslides and accelerated erosion.
